- A significant portion of Korea's wood demand relies on imports. Developing overseas forest resources becomes crucial in anticipation of potential wood price increases and uncertainties in supply, often arising from the forest and industry protection policies of countries with abundant forest resources.
- Ensure a stable wood supply by strategically developing overseas forest resources and facilitating international imports.
Goal (Comprehensive plan of overseas forest resources development, 2020-2024)
- 60,000 ha of overseas forestation planned from 2020 to 2024.
- Transporting 2.1million ㎥ of forest resources into the domestic sector from 2020 to 2024.
