Introduction to Forest Museum

Forest Museum was built in purpose of collecting mountain forest and forestry data and education, sample classification and status, storage, exhibition and research. This is built based on the traditional Korean construction adapting the nature using new modern materials like granite, which is the Korean building stone outside of the building and is built of reinforced concrete with one storage underground, two storages above ground, total 4,617㎡. Inside of the building is built with materials from Gwangneung forest like Korean nut pine tree and larch. The façade of the museum wall expresses the wall painting Sansumunjeon of Baekjae Dynasty engraved in modern sense, the harmony of nature, mountain, tree, water, rock, and cloud.

The ceiling of the entrance has been built in collecting the lumber from thinning the larch, and it is a good example of lumber from thinning.
The headstone in front of the Forest Museum is collected from the river of Gyungnam Sancheon Gun Sicheonmyeon Dongdangri, and we have exhibited 34 kinds of rock samples in the middle of the square building.
