In Korea, Sap industry has become main source of income, raising the household income to 140 billion won(6,300,000ℓ) each year.






Based on the fact that the sap collection was conducted mainly on agricultural and mountainous area during the agricultural off season from mid february to early march and that the number of sap households reaches about 1,970 in 2007, it is natural that sap industry deserves the acknowledgement.






Sap demands has continued to rise each year along with the public awareness on the fact the sap is rich in minerals, iron and manganese. It is known to be good remedy for stomach, neuralgia, hypertension and urinary diseases.






For its part, the KFS is implementing regulations on sap collection in order to minimize wood damage and to foster sap industry as sustainable household income. Besides, it also provided regulation of hose quality and management methods, with a view to maintain sanitary guidelines of the collected sap.
