The Korea Forest service (KFS)which has long contributed to combating desertification by planting trees in arid regions such as the Gobi Desert is to hold an event to mark the 2018 World Day to Combat Desertification (17 June, 2018) in cooperation with NGOs, KFS' trusted partners in various anti-desertification projects.  With the planned event, KFS aims to raise public awareness  of worsening desertification and to promote activities to fight  agianst desertification.

The event will be held on the 15th of June at Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul, involving following activities.

- Message panels showing the significance  of the fight against desertification and of the World Day to Combat Desertifiction
- Video and photo exhibitions designed to inform the public of the increasingly deteriorating desertification and persistent    efforts to stop the worsening process
- destribution of indoor plants that purify the air by filtering fine dust
- Online promotional activities including postings on the official KFS facebook to encourage people to take part in celebrating the 2018WDCD and do their part in the combat against desertification
