4.9 billion aid from Korea Forest Service to farmers affected by the recent heavy snow.






The total amount of 4.9 billion has been urgently budgeted for forestry farm families severely affected by the recent heavy snow, which is quite record-breaking.






Now that the damage to mushroom growing facilities, tree nurseries and other areas has totaled to large sums of 6.1 billion due to the heavy snow, Korea Forest Service( Chief : Cho Yon-hwan) has a plan with the budget, 1.5 billion of national funds and 3.4 billion of a loan, on giving aid to the forestry farm families and to the Central Disaster Relief Center in National Emergency management Agency for restoration work.






The severe damage to shiitake mushroom growing facilities has been a main concern. Therefore, the technical support team for restoration work consisted of mushroom experts from Korea Forest Research Institute and National Forestry Cooperatives Federation has been dispatched to the damaged sites and is to help them technically.






Chief Cho visited the damaged sites in Gangjin in which 1,2000 square pyong of mushroom growing land was damaged on December 12, gave words of encouragement, and arranged to have prompt aid and restoration done. On top of that, around 100 personnel of the service paid a visit to the damaged sites in Hampyong for restoration work of damaged facilities. Jeonnam province had a snowfall of 29 centimeter for a day of December 4th and the whole snowfall lay was 41 centimeter deep throughout 8 days since then.






" We are planing to put equipment and available labor needed in restoration work and to give governmental aid to farmers affected by the heavy snow as much as possible and as prompt as possible." said a concerned official of the service.
