KFS attempting the Guinness World Records on the Largest Tree Hug
- Until March 13, people wishing to participate in the event could apply through the website.
- On March 21, the Tree Hug Event will be held at Korea National Arboretum.

Coming March 21 is the International Day of Forests, established by UN in 2012. The Minister of the Korea Forest Service, SHIN Won-sop stated that, in commemoration of the Interntional Day of Forests, KFS will attempt to break the Guinness World Records - in particular, the largest tree hug in one minute.

The current record is 936 people hugging the trees in July 2013, which is held by the Treecology, Inc. and Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, Oregon of the United States. In order to break the record, more than 936 people should gather in a place and hug trees for more than one minute.

Anyone willing to participate in this event can apply through the website (www.goforest.co.kr) until March 13.

Minister Shin stated that "even though the society's attention towards forests and trees is growing, there is still less attention towards forestation and tending. With the 70th anniversary of our Independence Day and the Arbor Day, as well as the International Day of Forests, we would like to raise awareness towards the importance of the forest both domestically and globally," and requested Korean citizens to participate or have a keen interest towards this event.

This 'Tree Hug' event will be held in Korea National Arboretum in Pocheon, Gyeonggi province of ROK; along with KFS, Olleh KT, ZOO Coffee, Pocheon Office of Education, ForestForLife Corp. and National Forestry Cooperative Federation will participate in this event.
