- Individuals and Companies Can Join Asian Forest Restoration Efforts with Small Donations (KRW 5,000-50,000)

On May 9, the Korea Forest Service (KFS), led by Minister LIM Sang-seop, and the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO), led by Executive Director PARK Chongho, announced the joint development and pilot launch of a forest restoration platform, CAMP (Climate Action Matching Platform), enabling individuals and companies to participate in forest restoration in Asia.

As public interest in climate change and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices continues to grow, this web-based platform provides a new opportunity for anyone to take part in AFoCO’s forest restoration projects?initiatives previously supported primarily by government funding.

Users can access the CAMP platform and choose from the following restoration sites:

Mangrove forests (Indonesia, Viet Nam)
Forest fire-affected areas (Kazakhstan, Mongolia)
Tropical forests (Lao PDR, Timor-Leste)

Donation amounts range from KRW 5,000 to 50,000.

To ensure transparent fund management, AFoCO plans to establish a dedicated fund management committee. Domestic donors can receive full tax credits for donations up to KRW 100,000 and a 16.5% tax deduction for amounts exceeding that. Donation receipts will also be issued to companies.

Launched in Korea on May 9, the platform will expand to the international community in a second phase, including an English-language version.

NAM Song Hee, Director General of the International Affairs Bureau, emphasized that small actions can help restore forests across Asia and contribute to climate change mitigation, encouraging active participation from both individuals and businesses.
