In preparation of the forest fire prone season (November 1 to December 15), Korea Forest Service held the civilian-government-military joint fire suppression training on October 28 in Danyang-eup Chungcheongbuk-do where it is known for its attractions.




This training was the first to be operated focused on FGIS(Forest Geographic Information System). In order to effectively act in case of forest fire, the training also focused on establishing early winter suppression system and on-site integrated command abilities. 1,000 people or so from national forest related agencies and other relevant offices participated.




Since it was the first time to utilize FGIS-based system for fire suppression command, it was a good opportunity to establish expertise and consistency in forest fire suppression plan.




Korea Forest Service will continue to establish unified on-site suppression command system and cultivate not only an effective suppression strategy but also suppression capacity. Korea Forest Service will also continue to expand facilities and experts such as suppression helicopters, expert prevention squad, etc to build an early winter suppression system and will endeavor to build scientific forest fire management foundation by improving the prevention systems.
