Warning against Corythucha ciliata on platanus trees 이미지1

Korea Forest Service(KFS) has issued a warning against Corythucha ciliata on platanus trees as of July 5, 2007 and directed local stations and local governments to take preventative action against Corythucha ciliata (common name : sycamore lace bug) which sucks up fluid of trees and causes damage.

More or less three generations per year occur. After wintering, the bugs emerge out around April and lay around 90 eggs along leaf veins. They grow faster after June and feed on the undersides of platanus’ leaves, causing a white stippling that can progress into bronzed foliage and early falling leaves. Damage is more severe after the rainy season.

KFS has introduced local governments to monitor the bugs thoroughly and to perform trunk injections of pesticides or spray dusting powder at the early stage of infection or after the rainy season.
