Prevention of Damage by the Torrential Rain 이미지1

Korea Forest Service(KFS) has sent personnel from National Forestry Cooperative Federation, National Forest Offices and local stations into sites damaged by the recent torrential rain so as to restore affected areas and help people take shelter in a safe place. Officials in the head office of KFS have also been overworking, fully prepared for an emergency situation.

KFS has planned to supply daily necessaries, facilities and manpower for early and urgent restoration of affected areas. In the meantime, eight helicopters have been sent to severely affected regions, such as Gangneung and Wonju, for saving a life and restoration work. Extra helicopters have also been spared in case that there is more damage occurring.

In addition, by means of SMS (Short Message Service), a text message is sent to KFS’s officials simultaneously when there is risk of landslide so that people in dangerous areas can be evacuated to a safe place.

KFS asked visitors in recreation forests to take shelter in a safe place or to return home and made sure that helicopters are available to be sent when needed.
