A newly appointed Minister of Korea Forest Service (KFS) Mr. Byeong-Am CHOI presided over the first regular meeting on implementation of carbon neutral forestry strategy on 6 April.
Following the Republic of Korea’s declaration on Carbon Neutrality 2050 last October 2020, KFS drew up the carbon neutral forestry strategy proposal last December, recognizing that forests hold the best nature-based solution and play a growing role as major carbon sink in realizing Carbon Neutrality 2050.
At the meeting, KFS Minister stressed that moving forward carbon neutrality is a formula for our sustainable economy and future society and thus, we continue to shape up future-oriented and feasible forest strategy which foresters and the general people can relate to.
