Seminar on Baekdu Daegan Mountain System

Korea Forest Service, in presence of people concerned from the academic field, NGOs, and Baekdu Daegan Research Institute on June 15, held a seminar on ''Future Inheritance, Baekdu Daegan'' for preserving Baekdu Daegan Mountain System(BDMS) as future inheritance with full of life, culture and nature.






At the seminar, Mr. Shin Jeong-il, Director-General of Hwangtohyun Cultural Research Institute, analyzed effects of the traditional way of geographical perception on our lives and culture and gave a presentation on measures for applying those effects to national land planning and various policies. Mr. Oh Ki-sae, advisor of Geo Community & Network (Geography Teachers Association), also gave a presentation on how to educate juveniles the geographical view of our ancestors.






Mr. Park Dong-kyun, Secretary General of Northeast Asian Forest Forum, gave a presentation on cooperative measures between the two Koreas for BDMS preservation, which was followed by the heated discussion among officials concerned from Ministry of Environment, Prof. Yang Bokyung from Sungshin university and Prof. Kong woo-seok from Kyunghee university.
