The First Ad-hoc Working Group Meeting for the establishment of the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) is to be held at the Mulia Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia from 24~26 August 2009. The meeting will be co-organized by the ASEAN Secretariat, the Korea Forest Service(Republic of Korea), and the Ministry of Forestry(Republic of Indonesia).





The proposal for the establishment of AFoCO was further elaborated and received support by the ASEAN Senior Officials on Forestrt (ASOF) at their 12th meeting held on 25~27 June 2009 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Following the decision of the 12th ASOF Meeting, all ASEAN Member Sates have appointed their national focal points to participate at the Ad-hoc Working Group Meetings towards the establishment of AFoCO.
