the Independence Hall of Korea to Hold Festivities

The Independence Hall of Korea is set to hold a range of festivities, starting from the coming 10th of August, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the nation's independence from the Japanese colonial rule. With the start of " the National Flower Mugunghwa Grand Festival", it will hold cultural events, including a music concert, as well as a variety of congratulatory and academic events, such as the presenting of a film featuring the lives of independence movement activists and a symposium on liberation and independence movement.

Most of all, especially the International Aunae Independence Film Festival for the people liberation movement which had occurred before and after the World War II, and inter-korean reconciliation and humanity peace is attracting public attention. The film will show the loyal troops movement and the dedicated lives of independence activists, such as Baekbum Kim Gu, who died, with his wish of seeing the unified country unfulfilled.

" In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the nation's independence, a documentary on the nation's independence movement history is scheduled to be produced and televised in March, next year," said Kim Young-ju, head of public relations division at the Independence Hall of Korea. "At a time when the Japanese history distortion is becoming apparent, there is a need to put emphasis on the significance of the Independence Day."
