The Korea Forest Service, in commemoration of the International Year of Deserts and Desertification, held an international symposium at the Seoul Press Center on June 14. The International Symposium on Northeast Asia Forest Network for Combating Desertification and Dust and Sandstorm was held in presence of distinguished representatives and experts from UNCCD, UNESCAP, China, Japan, Mongolia and Korea, including the Mongolian Vice Minister of Nature and Environment.


The Korea Forest Service made a proposal to organize a sub-regional network for prevention of desertification and dust and sandstorm.
