- Objective: Necessity to implement forestry cooperative projects as the two countries conducted a project to establish pilot complex for reforestation in Bagan of Myanmar. Facilitating Stable Timber Import and Overseas Reforestation Initiatives.
[History]
- 1994: Korea transferred forestry technologies by dispatching experts to Myanmar for a month.
- 1998: Initiated the “pilot reforestation complex“ project.
- July 1999: Signed the Memorandum of Understanding on forestry cooperation.
- 1st Forestry Cooperative Committee (2000): Discussed on promoting forestry investment, expert exchange, and joint research projects.
- 2nd Forestry Cooperative Committee (2002): Extended desertification reforestation projects, expanded overseas reforestation, and promoted bamboo utilization development.
- 3rd Forestry Cooperative Committee (2004): Exchanged human resources, shared wood processing technology, and provided information on overseas plantation investment.
- 4th Forestry Cooperative Committee (2006): Collaborated on overseas reforestation cooperation, ASEAN cooperation projects, and bamboo research.
- 5th Forestry Cooperative Committee (2008): Supported reforestation projects in central arid areas, aided investment enterprises, and engaged in joint bamboo research.
- 6th Forestry Cooperative Committee (2010): Collaborated on the publication of forestry investment guides and provided information to investment enterprises.
- 7th Forestry Cooperative Committee (2012): Signed a MOU providing 500,000 hectares for reforestation, agreed on practical discussions for REDD+ implementation.
- 8th Forestry Cooperative Committee (2014): Signed the MOU on investment in forest plantation and climate change, engaged in joint research on native plants, and pursued REDD+ pilot projects
