Painted Maple(Acer mono) sap collection began in Gangwon province. (Misan-ri Sangnam-myeon Inje-gun)

According to the Misan-ri residents, the recent warm day temperature enabled collection of the sap starting March 15th. Around 1,000ℓis collected everyday.

Compared to last year when collection started in mid-February, it has been delayed around a month because of the cold weather and heavy snow late this winter. It is estimated that total of around 15,000~20,000ℓwill be produced this year.

The Painted Maple sap is produced only from maple aged more than 30 years. The syrup is becoming very popular for its taste and healthy components like mineral, maganese, and vitamin C.

Wolhak-ri will also start to produce Painted Maple sap this year. Local income increase is expected by the residents.
