Emergency Conference on Pine Wilt Disease Control

An emergency conference to counter the pine wilt disease, presided over by Park Hong-su, the agriculture and forestry minister, was convened on 24 October in Daejeon based Government Complex, and its participants include Korea Forest Service chief Cho Yon-hwan, deputy mayor, deputy governor, and officials from the Ministry of Construction and Transportation and Korea Highway Corporation. Minister Park pointed out that local governments have been so negligent in dealing with the plague, saying he will place priority on the problem of lack of the budget allocated for the eradication of the disease.
