1,500 individuals from Korea Forest Service, local government, environmental groups, etc conducted a nationwide campain to save and protect pine trees from pine wilt disease. The campaign was conductec over 6 provinces, covering 32 administrative districts.


The campaign was to prevent further spread of the disease which have already been detected in northern reagion of Gangwondo. The campaign focused on inspection of withered trees and public awareness raising.


Mr. Cho Yon-hwan, the Chief of KFS, participated in the campain to hand out leaflets on pine wilt disease in Sokri-san area. He asked everyone to report at once if withering pine trees are sighted.
