The Eastern Regional Forest Management Office Discourages Illicit Collection and Shipment of Pine Mushrooms in National Forests

The Eastern Regional Forest Management Office said on September 2 it will have residents who collect pine mushrooms in national forests pay the price in advance, aiming at the prevention of indiscriminate collection of pine mushrooms.

Accordingly, residents with permission must carry their certificate of prepayment to collect pine mushrooms in national forests, making it possible to prevent nonlicensed collectors.

Once permitted residents pay 10% of the average collection amount of pine mushrooms over the past three years, they would get around 90% of the output.

So far, since residents who collected pine mushrooms in national forests were required to report that they were collected in national forests and to pay an estimated 10% of sales, they have turned to outside brokers, avoiding selling quality pine mushrooms in forestry cooperatives.

The Eastern Regional Forest Management Office decided to build a partnership with major pine mushroom-producing regions and carry out projects aimed at enhancing pine mushroom cultivating conditions for the purpose of the publicity of the superiority of regional pine mushrooms as well as the multiplication of pine mushrooms within national forests.

" The improved way of the prepayment will be an opportunity to widely make known the superiority of regional pine mushrooms, as quality pine mushrooms produced in national forests are all forwarded to forest cooperatives," said an official in the Eastern Regional Forest Management Office.

Meanwhile, due to the hot weather throughout the summer, Yangyang, the number one pine mushroom producing region began shipping pine mushrooms starting from on August 28 last year, while, with a bad beginning, this year is projected to see a low yield level.
