On 18 November 2011, the Agreement between the ASEAN and ROK on Forest Cooperation was signed by respective foreign affairs Ministers and designated Ministers at the occassion of the 14th ASEAN-ROK Summit held in Bali, Indonesia.

Mr. Surin Pitsuwan, ASEAN Secretary General highlighted on green growth and the significance of Korea's successful experience in forest rehabilitation. He further stressed that large portion of population in Asia is dependent of forest and looked forward to further strengthening forestry cooperation between ASEAN and Korea.

Furthermore a media briefing was organized by the ASEAN Secretariat for the Minister of Korea Forest Service and the Minister of Indonesian Ministry for Forestry to brief on the current and future prospect of cooperation in the forestry sector.
