Mr. Chung Kwang-soo, Minister of Korea Forest Service officially announced that Forest Protection Law was enacted into law on June 9, aiming to promote forest ecosystem health and conserve forest resources. It focuses on effective prevention of forest fire and insect pests as well as improvement of regulations on forest protection area.





Considering that the number of forest insects has significantly increased due to climate change caused by global warming and that forest has been destroyed owing to forest fire, this regulation integrates forest protection-related regulations, establishes new protection system and incorporates protection forest and genetic resources protection forest to one forest protection region, in order to effectively prevent forest pest, diseases and forest fire.
