The Korea Forest Service hosted training program from November 30 to December 5 for Mongolian forestry officials involved in the Greenbelt Plantation Project.
This training program was carried out as a part of the the Greenbelt Plantation Project implemented in Mongolia. The Greenbelt Plantation Project is a 10 year program implemented from 2007 through 2016. The project activities include tree planting, establishmeng of experiment forest, joint research, and training programs.
This session of the training program included lecture and hand-on classes about soil erosion control, nursery technology, and forest disease and pest. It included lectures on the history and know-how that Korea accumulated over the past 40 years in forest reforestation. The trainees also had the opportunity to visit related forestry institutions and field.
The Korea Forest Service, through various training courses, have offered training courses to some 500 people from 56 countries in order to transfer forest rehabilitation technology. This year, Korea Forest Service is began implementing forest cooperation projects in Myanmar and countries like China and Vietnam are proposing joint projects.
