’Foreston’ is the Korea Forest Service’s policy brand.


The Korea Forest Service(KFS) has registered its brand ’Foreston’ for its forest recreation policies and is developing it as ’Power Policy Brand like a large enterprise.


On August 18, ’Foreston’ was registered as a brand to the Korean Intellectual Property Office and KFS has set up its brand, which is one of strategic actions in order to provide upgraded forest recreation service for the people.


KFS conducted the survey nationwide last July for enhancing the Power Policy Brand and collected publicly the brand name and BI(Brand Identity). As a result, ’Foreston’ was chosen for the brand and the portal site(www.foreston.go.kr) called Foreston has opened to provide information on forest recreation, forest culture, forest education, mountaineering and mountain sports, through which KFS has been developing its policy marketing.


Forest Culture and Recreation Act has been into effect since August 5 so the forest recreation service has been enhanced and KFS’s efforts in establishing its brand have been accelerated. KFS has planned to upgrade its service and gain recognition of its brand from the public. Further, KFS will be able to establish the best brand for its policies.


KFS’s ’Power Policy Brand’ strategy is designed to develop forest administration more focused on policies than its organization structure. Having started with its brand for forest recreation policies, KFS is planning to establish other ’Power Policy Brand’ in other sectors such as forest protection and forest recourses.


Chief of KFS, Suh Seong-jin pointed that in the past KFS focused on the organization brand but now it is more important to enhance policy performance of KFS so the complication of budget is being reformed, focused on its policies and projects and KFS’s work on the policy brand and the recent reshuffle into the team system has reflected this change.
