On June 17th, 2020, Korea Forest Service hosted a launching ceremony for the book "Re-greening Ethiopia" that it co-published with Ethiopia's Environment, Forest and Climate Change Commission (EFCCC). Held on the world's "Desertification and Drought Day," the event was attended guests including the Ethiopian Ambassador to Korea H. E. Shiferaw Shigutie Wolassa and Korea's Ambassador for Climate Change H. E. Yeon-chul Yoo.

The book elaborates on the current state and challenges of Ethiopia's forestry sector, efforts that had taken place to restore Ethiopia's degraded lands, and South Korea's successful regreening experience.

During the event, KFS, Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), SK Forest and Tree Planet signed a memorandum of agreement for a Partnering for Green Growth (P4G) project that will be launched in Ethiopia. The project, which is also a pilot project for Korea's Peace Forest Initiative (PFI), aims to restore the degraded forests of Ethiopia and facilitate cooperation among ethnic groups in conflict regions by establishing sustainable agroforestry coffee farms.

Joined also by EFCCC and the Ethiopia-based Environment and Coffee Forest Forum (ECFF), this P4G partnership project seeks to revitalize Ethiopia's economy and secure regional peace and trust by restoring degraded forests and promoting fair trade of eco-friendly, sustainable coffee.
