Korea Forest Service expressed deep condolences to the countries and victims suffering from the loss of life and damages caused by a severe earthquake which centered off the coast of the Indonesian island of Sumatra on December 26.

The Chief of Korea Forest Service, on behalf of all the employees, sent message of consolation to the Heads of forest administrative bodies of some countries in Southeast and Southwest Asia, including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand.

Korea Forest Service plans to collect voluntary donation from the employees and provide emergency relief fund through non-governmental organization.
