Upon the 62th Arbor day. Chief of the Korea Forest Service, Mr. Suh Seong-jin, gave medals for forestry merit to 10 foresters who made great contributions to generating forest recourses and increasing forestry incomes. To name a few, Mr. Kim Taewon for Bronze Order of industrial Service Merit, Mr. Lee Chunman, Park Hogin and Lee Jeongmoo for Steal Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, and 5 foresters including Mr. Choi Duwhan for presidential citation.
Mr Kim Taewon, head of the Korea Forest Employers Federation received a medal for Bronze Order of Industrial Service Merit, having served as forest manager for 36 years, contributed to forest policy-making and made great efforts to increase incomes for rural dwellers and promote interchange between urban and rural communities. Mr. Lee Chunman, president of Eagon Corporation, a man of Steal Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit has been engaged in the lumber industry for 26 years and endeavored to secure raw materials through overseas plantation and to make the best use of wood recourses. On top of that, he has contributed to social development by holding Eagon music concert and promoting overseas plantation projects.
The selection process was under the strict government prize procedure such as consideration by the Council cabinet and vice-ministers. The prizemen were finally selected by the President.
