On February 16, Forest Fire Prevention HQ held a plate-hanging ceremony at the Forest Fire Situation Room. The HQ will be in full operation for the spring season fire prevention.


The Korea Forest Service further announced that it will set up "East-coast Wildfire Management Center" in coordination with 17 central government agencies and local governments including Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, National Emergency Management Agency, Ministry of National Defense, local governments and organizations. The Center will be in operation all year round.


The Center will monitor forest fire prevention activities in 9 areas and establish suppression plan in the mean time. In cases of fire, it will operate integrated commanding headquarters, establish suppression strategies, and take charge of core on-site tasks.
