On February 11, the Korea Forest Service and the City of Busan mutually agreed to strengthen cooperation in building low carbon green metropolitan and have adopted a cooperative arrangement to support the goals.




The cooperation arrangement has been adopted based on the common needs to develop the framework for green growth to deal with the emerging issues on climate change.






The cooperative activities under this arrangement includes development of green metropolitan, additional forest recreation facilities, intensive control of pine wilt disease and other forest disease. The Korea Forest Service and the City of Busan will make efforts to create pleasant urban surrounding with low carbon emission.


Busan is especially in need of cooperation with the Korea Forest Service considering that the pine wilt disease was first found in Busan in 1988 and later in the 90''s was infested with pine scale.
