Dr. Suh Seung-jin, the Chief of Korea Forest Service, had a brief meeting with Mr. Diallo, the Secretary General of UNCCD, at the Korea Forest Research Institute. Mr. Diallo had visited Korea to attend the 37th World Farmers Congress held in Seoul from May 13-20.


Dr. Suh stressed the seriousness of dust and sandstorm in Korea as well as introduced the supporting project on the Mongolian Greenbelt Program. He was able to draw positive support from the UNCCD. He further requested the Secretariat to promote the awareness of the international community on forest rehabilitation in North Korea.
