A Baekdusan tiger presented by and transported from China was raised at the forest zoo in the National Arboretum. Unfortunately, it fell dead on March 29.
Mr. Kwon, Director-general of the National Arboretum announced that the 2002-born female tiger named ’Amnok’ was infected with intermidius and died of a renal disease according to the result of an autopsy conducted by college of veterinary medicine of Seoul National University.
The research by the college has revealed that the infection way is a urinary tract and a healthy tiger can be liable to the infection so it is believed that the multiple causes of catching the disease could be stress from the new environment, the mating season, copulation and toxaemia, etc.
