Korea Forest Service has reinforced the private cooperation with New Zealand for demand and supply of radiata pine and attended Korea-New Zealand Forestry Cooperative committee(KNFCC).
The two reached an agreement at this KNFCC meeting to speed up non-governmental cooperation and interchange for supply of radiata pine, which is widely used in Korean.

Nam Sung-hyun, Director-General of Bureau of Policy and Publicity, as the head delegate, participated in the meeting and so did Don Wijewardana, Director-General of Bureau of International Forestry Policy in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The committee has agreed to supply information about New Zealand''s policy on forest and foreign investment in terms of the expansion of Korea''s planting plan in New Zealand. New Zealand will consider a countermeasure for sinks in March next year, being one of the first parties obligated to reduce emission in accordance with UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol. New Zealand has agreed to supply us relevant information and data, and to consistently exchange information and experts.

In the meantime, with regard to WTO/DDA, New Zealand asked Korea for tax relief on timber but we, korean delegation, explained its delicate aspect of the timber industry in Korea. Then the two came to a conclusion to negotiate with each other through multilateral talks next time.
