Call for Participants: Land Youth Negotiator Programme

The Korea Forest Service is recruiting young Korean students to participate in the Land Youth Negotiator Programme, with the aim of fostering future global leaders in the forestry sector.


□ Background & Objectives
The programme aims to cultivate young talent with global competencies in the field of forestry.


□ Training Institution & Program
Institution: Youth Negotiators Academy
It is a UK-based non-profit organization that conducts youth negotiator programmes for the UNFCCC and UNCCD.

Program Name: Land Youth Negotiator Programme

Format: Hybrid (Online & In-person)

Online: March ~ August (approx. 50 hours total)

In-person: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (August 2026)

Number of Participants: Up to 2 individuals (Current undergraduate or graduate students, or students on leave, from forestry-related departments at universities in Korea)

Support Provided: Airfare and accommodation expenses (in accordance with the Domestic/Overseas Travel Expense Regulations for Public Officials).


□ Selection Criteria(Requirements)
Age
Must be 35 years old or younger as of August 9, 2026.

Eligibility
1. A national of the Republic of Korea.
2. Current or on-leave student in a forestry-related department at a university/graduate school located in Korea.

Language
Minimum required scores: TOEFL iBT 71, TOEIC 675, IELTS 5.5, or New TEPS 327.
An English interview will be conducted.

Other
1. Must be available for online and in-person training (March ~ August 2026).
2. Must be able to attend the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNCCD (August 17~28, 2026).
* Attendance is subject to approval by a relevant ministry.

Announcement & Application: Feb 9 (Mon) ~ Feb 18 (Wed), 2026

Document Screening: Feb 19 (Thu) ~ Feb 20 (Fri)

Successful candidates will be notified individually on Feb 23.

Interview: Feb 24 (Tue) or Feb 25 (Wed), 2026 (Tentative)

Final Result Notification: Feb 27 (Fri), 2026
