The Korea Forest Service(KFS) is planing to plant 43 million trees in 20,000 hectares during the promotion period of tree planting (March 1~April 30), encouraging the people to participate in ’One Citizen Plants One Tree’ campaign with a slogan ’Tree planting saves the earth’.


KFS has more planting plans;
to cultivate 292 ha of commercial forest areas as timber production and supply bases, considering each region’s features
- expand native tree plantation such as pine trees, larches and liriodendron other than pinus, acutissima, and white birch trees.


to create forests with their characters linked with regional development
- hold the 62nd arbor day event of regional forest creation such as village forests, school forests, street forests, native mountain forests, in cooperation with local governments.
- undertake tree plantation activities under a slogan ’Rich Forests, Healthy Mountains’ in cooperation with locals, schools, communities and military units


to promote public participation in and raise public awareness of tree planting with ’Own-A-Tree’ campaign
- distribute trees to citizens in order to help them take pleasures in planting and tending trees
- provide 280places for tree planting and tending


to operate 129 tree markets nationwide for providing more convenience for citizens willing to plant trees.


to transfer plantation technologies to developing countries, based on Korea’s accumulated technologies through achievement of disaster prevention and afforestation.
- start ’Mongolia Greenbelt Project’ for 10 years from 2007
- provide aids for tsunami restoration in Indonesia and for ecological restoration near the Imjin river, North Korea.
