□ Overview o Date and Venue: 16~27 May 2005, UN Headquarters New York
o Objective:
- UNFF was established by the Economic and Social Council of the United
Nation (ECOSOC) to lead the 5-year forest policy dialogue.
- As the last session, the Fifth session aims to review the 5 year implementation
and present future directions for the forum.
□ Agenda
o Enhance international cooperation in forestry; discuss policy and program coordination.
o Review implementation and progress of 5 years.
o Review the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests.
o Consider the parameters of a mandate for developing a legal framework on all types of forest.
□ Overview o Date and Venue: 25~26 May 2005, UN Headquarters New York
o Objective:
- To adopt the ministerial statement based on the stance of each state in the
discussion of the Fifth session
- To provide sustainable forest management through discussions with multi
stakeholders
□ Agenda
o Coordinate international agreement on all
forests; review implementation of commitments
on UN Millennium Declaration Declaration to
strengthen the role of UN for poverty, peace,
human rights, etc. during the 55th UN Assembly
o Discuss position of UNFF within UN and basic
framework of UNFF as an international
organization.
o Present future IAF directions on all types of
forests* Round tables: Restoring Wolrd's Forest, Forest
Law and Governance for Sustainability
