Cooperative meeting with UNCCD

Korea Forest Service had a meeting with Executive Secretary Diallo of UNCCD to discuss the possible joint project on combating desertification.

The meeting was held last March 26 at 9:30 in the morning at Lotte hotel. In attendance was the Executive Secretary Diallo and 2 officers from UNCCD, Director of International Cooperation Division of KFS and 3 officers. The meeting was coordinated by Northeast Asia Forest Forum.

During the meeting, UNCCD requested for assistance in future projects for desertification especially in Northeast Asian region. UNCCD is trying to move quickly on implementing restoration projects in North Korea. Assistance for National Environment Youth Corps in Mongolia was second in agenda. UNCCD also requested for expert dispatch to UNCCD Asia Coordination Unit in Thailand. KFS announced to make a positive review on the proposals.
