The Greenbelt Plantation Project to Combat Desertification and Mitigate Dust and Sandstorms (2007-2016) saw its fruits of the 10-year activities. Following the first ten year Project, the Korea Forest Service (KFS) of the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET) agreed to continue their efforts to combat desertification and mitigate dust and sandstorms. The MOU for the second stage was signed between the KFS and MET on Cooperation in Combating Desertification and Dust/Sandstorms on 17 July 2016 in the presence of the Presidents of the two countries in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
