The MOU on forest research cooperation was established first in 2008 between the Korea National Arboretum (KNA) and the National Institute For Researches on Rural Engineering, Water and Forest of Tunisia (INRGREF) and a joint research on Tunisian native flora was conducted in different regions including the Northwestern region, Central Steppes, Southern Sahara and Northern and Eastern coastal regions from 2011 to 2013. A picture book of Tunisian native plants was published in four languages: French; English; Arabic; and Korean in 2013. For the continued research, the MOU was renewed in 2015. The joint research and collection of ornamental and aromatic plant resources in Tunisia was carried out under the renewed MOU and more publication of native plant resources and related surveys in arid regions are on the way with the view of combating desertification and restoring desertified land.
