Environmental and policy surveys can be considered as initial stage of overseas forest investment projects. The KFS provides financial support to the companies to conduct careful examination and data collecting of the potential project sites, which will contribute to vitalizing overseas forest investment and providing a stable source of timber supplyLocal business surveys with support of KFS can help forestry companies have a better understanding of local environments and conditions of foreign forest investment and ease their financial burden at the preliminary stage. Moveover, survey results can be shared among those interested in the same countries so as to avoid redundant surveys and overlapping investment sites.
Surveys have been conducted in total 17 countries, including New Zealand, Indonesia, Brazil, Viet Nam and Malaysia. 35 companies have benefited the financial support which resulted in 54 plantation projects, 3 forest product processing and 4 research surveys.
