My fellow citizens, foresters, and colleagues of the Korea Forest Service. I am PARK Eunsik, the 37th Minister of the Korea Forest Service.
I take on this responsibility with a profound sense of duty?to foster valuable and resilient forests, advance a sustainable green economy, and realize the vision of "Healthy Forests, Happy People.”
Forests safeguard the lives of the people. They are also a new driver of national growth and the key solution to the climate crisis. Now, forests must become a driving force for innovation and growth.
At this moment, the Korea Forest Service stands at a crossroads, deciding whether to take the next step to fundamentally transform our forests and the forestry sector so they meet the standards of a leading nation, or remain bound to the past by repeating outdated policies.
To this end, I will focus on the following five priorities to further advance our forest policy.
First, I will establish an ‘intelligent forest disaster response system’ built on cutting-edge science and technology.
Second, I will establish a dynamic forestry industry ecosystem by maximizing the value of forest resources.
Third, I will foster climate-resilient forests that serve as stronger carbon sinks.
Fourth, I will enhance forest welfare services and harness forests as a solution to demographic decline in rural communities.
Fifth, I will share the vision of “K-Forest” with the international community and thoroughly prepare for inter-Korean forest cooperation.
Fellow citizens, foresters, and colleagues of the Korea Forest Service!
As we advance these policies, I will listen carefully to the voices of the citizens and improve the effectiveness of these policies based on science and data.
At the same time, I will boldly reform outdated practices and pursue forward-looking policies so that the Korea Forest Service earns the trust of the people and realize the vision of “Healthy Forests, Happy People.”
Thank you
3 March 2026
PARK Eunsik
Minister, Korea Forest Service
