Forest Disaster and Environmental Research Department
The Future Forest Strategy Department contributes to improving the quality of life and promoting a sustainable society by developing strategies and utilization systems that enhance the value of forests and forestry both in Korea and abroad. Our research focuses on advancing future-oriented forest policies, invigorating the forest industry, and strengthening international and inter-Korean cooperation in forestry. We also work to establish a digital forest management system, support private forest management, and promote convergence research on forest welfare and human services. In addition, we conduct research to increase carbon sinks in support of achieving the 2030 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and 2050 carbon neutrality goals. The department also develops technologies to maintain and enhance the functions of urban forests and advances research on forest hydrologic cycling.
