Features

Hwang-jeong-san mountain belongs to the 100 best mountains in Korea. It is located in Daegang-myeon Danyang-gun Chungbuk. It is across the road from the Do-rak-san mountain. Hwang-jeong-san mountain (959.4m) has a rugged steep figure located to the south of Hwangjeong-ri Daegang-myeon Danyang-gun Chungbuk. It has not been paid attention to the people because it is blocked by eight well-known beautiful scenery in Dan-yang, but in recent times the Chil-seong rock of Hwang-jeong-san has been named one of a second eight best sceneries, attracting many tourists. The Baek-du-dae-gan slightly gets low elevation at the Juk-ryeong to the south of the So-baek-san mountain, soaring up to the Do-sol-bong(1,314m) and Myo-jeok-bong(1,148m) to the south. Hwan-jeong-san mountain is a northern branch peak of another peak (1,076m) positioned between Jeo-su-jae and Beol-jae where the baek-du-dae-gan changes its direction toward the west from the Myo-jeok-bong. This mountain has emerged as an interesting path up the mountain, where 1000-year-old dae-heung-sa temple and Won-tong-am temple built in the age of Shilla Dynasty are adding some feature to the mountain, like any other well-known mountains with well-sitting old temples. Originally the dae-heung-sa temple was a mammoth temple measured 6,000 pyeong with 500 Buddha’s followers and 1,000 monks but it was lost in 1876 due to a fire. At present it remains its existence only with Won-tong-am temple.
Further, Hwang-jeong-san mountain has lots of things worthwhile to see as a well-known mountain including such eccentric rocks as Chil-seong-am, which is one of the second best eight scenes, Nam-geun-seok, Mo-ja rock, Finger rock and caterpillar rock, etc. The baek-du-dae-gan lowers a little at Juk-ryeong past the So-baek-san mountain and it soars up again to the south, forming Do-sol-bong(1,314m) and Myo-jeok-bong peaks(1,148m).
