"Bangjangsan (Mt.) is located on the edge of Noryeong Mountain Range. It has been called as the "three mysterious mountains of Jeolla-do" along with Jirisan (Mt.) and Mudeungsan (Mt.) because it is elevated in its neighboring plain and hidden in mysterious clouds. Due to its steep geographical features, a band of robbers took refuge there, and a woman who was caught by them waited for her husband to come and rescue her. But he did not come for a long time. She got tired of waiting for him and sang the "Bangjangsan song." Gochang Plain and the West Sea seen on the top of the mountain attract mountain lovers on weekends.
