Gangcheonsan (Mt.) is located at 996, Cheonggye-ri, Paldeok-myeon, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk. Along with Kwangdeoksan (Mt., 565m above sea level), Sanseongsan (Mt., 603m above sea level) consists of Yeondaebong (Peak), Seonnyeobong (Peak), Janggunbong (Peak), Wangjabong (Peak), Hyeongjebong (Peak), Shinseonbong (Peak), Okhobong (Peak), Suryeongbong (Peak), Gitdaebong (Peak), and Cheonjibong (Peak). It holds outstanding beauty and pride.
It used to be called Yongcheonsan (Mt.), since the shape looks as though a dragon were ascending to the sky lashing its tail. Noryeong mountain range forms Kwangduksan (Mt.) after Yongcheonsan (Mt.). And from Sanseongsan (Mt.), rising high as a guardian mountain of Gangcheonsan (Mt.), it is divided into north and south, and two dragons run to far east side by side.
Various shapes and sizes of rocks are everywhere and the heavy forests wave along the wind as if they were showing off its antiquity. In the middle of Dusallok is a deep valley.
Only names of famous valleys are Jeobunjegol (Seonnyeogyegok), Wondeunggol, Buntonggol, Jijeokgol, Somokgol, Hwangwujegol, Giujegol, Senanggol, Multonggol, Wujakgol, Dongmakgol, Tapsanggol (Geumganggyegok), Seungbanggol, Byeondugol and so on. The clear waters from each valley flow together as a big current, crashing with rocks and stones, creating a clear sound, and echoing around the valleys, and finally flow down to Gangcheonho (lake). The green forests and clean waters, beautiful and cool valleys, ever changing sceneries each season make us call it Gangcheonsan (Mt.), the Geumgang of Honam.
As the spring comes to the lakes, azaleas, willows, and forsythias bloom all over, and also cherry blossoms sprout. Clear waters flow down endlessly among pebbles. Moss never gathers here in Gangcheonsu which cools down the summer heat, maybe because it is too cold or too clear. Various shrubs and maple trees are abundant in Gancheonsan (Mt.). Seven kinds of maples and baby squirrels add the sentiment of autumn. Quite gentle and safe narrow lanes attract families and lovers.
Also, it is a splendid place for mountain lovers. When it snows in winter, artists who want to draw the snowscape never stops visiting here. Thus, the characteristics of each season in Gangcheonsan (Mt.) renews the hearts of visitors.
