Overview

As one of the three mountains of god, Hallasan (Mt.) has been known as a noted mountain of the country. A range of the mountain spreads to the east and the west from the center of Jeju-do. The slope in the south is steep, but gentle in the north. The slope in the east and the west is a somewhat high, level and spacious.
As Hallasan is a dormant volcano geologically created by eruption in the 4th period of the Cenozoic era, it is covered with basalt. Baengnokdam (Crater Lake) which used to be a crater is at the top of the mountain. As a thesaurus of alpine plants, the number of species of plants is over 1,800. Along with the thick natural forest, spacious plain produces a spectacular sight.
Also natural beauty in high cliffs, precipitous rock walls, and fantastic rocks and stones in shallow valleys is also excellent. A beautiful azalea stock is considered one of the specialties of the mountain. In addition, the whole mountain covered with red leaves is one of the most beautiful scenes and especially snow-covered Halla is considered as the best of wonderful views.
Aside from 10 views of Yeongju, there are 7 beauty spots, splendid mountain valleys such as Baengnokdam, Tamnagyegok (Valley), Andeokgyegok (Valley), Wanggwanneung, and Seongpanak.
Other well-known sites are three great waterfalls including Cheonjiyeon (Water fall), Yongduam (Cave), and Manjanggul (Cave), natural beaches for bathing everywhere such as Sinyang, Yiho, Jungmun, Hyeopjae and Geumneung in Jejudo It has a marin climate and exotic views of tropical country.
With cultural properties such as Gwandeokjeong and Samseonghyeol, Jeju-do also holds many historic relics such as Ohyeondan, Samsaseok, Bangseonmun, etc, and many tales and legends with dolmens, Dolharubang (stone old man), dialects, etc. 5.16 road, total extent of 43km, starts from Jeju-si, crossing the east side of Hallasan) and then connected with Seogwipo. On the way, it passes Eoseungsaeng headspring, the lifeline to supply drinking water in Jeju-do and Ninety nine Valleys, a legendary beauty spot where neither a king nor a tiger can be born because it is short of just one valley. Plowing through the primitive forest, you can also closely pass by fantastic rocks of Yeongsil which can be compared to Manmulsang (general store) of Geumgangsan (Mt.). Through the route of Seongpanak and the route of Gwaneumsa (Temple), it is possible to ascend the top while it is possible only to ascend Wisseoreum through the route of Eorimok and the route of Yeongsil.
